Lisa McAuliffe qualified with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Liverpool in 2003. Lisa was awarded the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Ophthalmology in 2009 and was awarded her Masters in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia from Edinburgh University in 2019.

Lisa moved to Ireland 11 years ago and has since been working exclusively in small animal hospitals – you may have seen her on RTÉ’s The Pet Surgeons. She regularly lectures to both vets and nurses.

Lisa works with Veterinary Specialists Ireland as a visiting consultant ophthalmologist.

What is a Veterinary specialist?

Most conditions that develop in our pets are first evaluated by a primary care veterinarian

If an animal develops a disease or illness requiring advanced care and procedures, they may be referred to a Veterinary Specialist

Veterinary Specialists are veterinarians who have advanced training in various veterinary medical and surgical disciplines and are board certified

Veterinary Specialists work closely with pet owners and the primary care veterinarian to coordinate the best quality of care
