Registered Veterinary Nurses

Veterinary Specialists Ireland is looking to recruit a team of RVNS to join our new emERge 24/7 emergency and critical care service to provide exemplary emergency and critical care to Ireland’s pets.

You will work alongside Ireland’s only small animal board-certified ECVECC Diplomate and allied Specialists in internal medicine, surgery, sports medicine and rehabilitation, nutrition and integrative medicine. Our emERge service works closely with our specialist hospital for all internal transfers allowing continuity of patient care and the opportunity for nurses to see cases to a conclusion.

  • Positions available for experienced and new graduate veterinary nurses.

  • New graduates will be assigned an experienced nurse mentor and be enrolled in our new graduate training program.

  • You will have the opportunity to take part in the monthly wet-labs and practical workshops run by Specialists for our ECC fellows and ECC nurses.

  • Weekly clinical rounds

  • At Veterinary Specialists Ireland, nurses are fully utilised and we strive for all Nurses to reach their maximum potential. We currently have 3 Nurses with post -graduate ECC qualifications and an additional 2 studying towards an ECC certificate. Further post-graduate training is supported and funded.

  • The veterinary team is ably assisted by auxiliary staff consisting of a dedicated reception team, ACA and hospital cleaner.

ECC Fellowship

Veterinary Specialists Ireland is recruiting additional veterinarians for a unique 1-year fellowship opportunity to expand their skills and knowledge in emergency medicine.

The training programme under the supervision of Ireland’s only small animal board-certified ECVECC Diplomate includes:

  • Daytime working one-to-one alongside an ECC Diplomate and allied Specialists in internal medicine, surgery, sports medicine and rehabilitation, nutrition and integrative medicine. Our emERge service works closely with our specialist hospital for all internal transfers allowing continuity of patient care and the opportunity for fellows to see cases to a conclusion.
  • Evenings and nights with a morning clinical debriefing/discussion of cases with our specialists and back up of medical and surgical Specialists if required
  • Time for personal or professional development (approximately 40%)
  • Structured mentorship programme with a syllabus of 12 modules, monthly wet-labs and practical workshops run by Specialists. Access to all advanced diagnostics in a purpose-built hospital, including advanced imaging 24/7. We are small on bureaucracy, big on care, collaboration and teamwork.
  • Opportunity to join the emERge team full-time as a staff Emergency and Critical Care Doctor on completion of the fellowship
  • Weekly journal club and clinical rounds
