Our Specialists are able to diagnose and treat a wide variety of neurological (brain and spine) conditions in dogs and cats.

Spinal conditions often lead to paralysis and require urgent assessment and treatment.

With access to a whole array of advanced diagnostics in both hospitals (64/160 slice CT and 1.5T MRI), we can diagnose and treat most conditions of the nervous system and provide expert postoperative care.

Here are some of the conditions we commonly treat:

  • Atlantoaxial (AA) Luxation
  • Brain Tumors
  • Cervical Disc Disease
  • Chiari-like Malformation and Syringomyelia
  • Discospondylitis
  • Encephalitis and Inflammatory Disease
  • Fibrocartilaginous Embolism (FCE)
  • Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD)
  • Seizures
  • Strokes
  • Vestibular Disease

Why does my pet need spinal surgery?

Pets may need to undergo spinal surgery for a variety of reasons, such as to relieve pressure on the spinal cord due to a slipped disc, tumour, or cyst or to fix a broken or dislocated back or neck.

If your pet is experiencing neck or back pain, dragging their limbs, or having difficulty walking, it can be concerning to hear that they may need spinal surgery. We will only recommend surgery if we think it is the best plan for your pet after discussing in depth with you. You can rest assured knowing our surgeons perform spinal surgeries every single day and our team are available even out-of-hours to assess and perform scans and spinal surgery as your pet needs.

We have helped thousands of pets regain their ability to walk. If your pet needs spinal surgery, we are confident that there are no better hands than ours.
