🌸Nelly is beating the odds!🌼🙌
Nelly is a senior lady who has been in and out of hospital for the past 6 months battling severe immune-mediated anaemia
Nelly had a bone marrow sample taken and was diagnosed with PIMA (precursor-targeted immune mediated haemolytic anaemia), a condition where the body destroys red blood cell precursors within the bone marrow 🩸
When Nelly's anaemia couldn't be controlled with medications, ECC Specialist Dr. Erin Daniels recommended a keyhole splenectomy — a novel approach that gave Nelly a fighting chance
We were so happy to see Nelly for her recheck last week - she is full of energy and her anaemia has resolved 💪🏻
Nelly is the perfect example of how a senior pet can beat the odds, even when faced with severe illness 🙌
Thank you to Nelly's family for believing in her and for trusting us with her care
Here's to making many more memories 🙏

Massive congratulations to Dr. Katerina Rysaki on her superb article featured in the June edition of the Veterinary Ireland Journal 🇮🇪📖
It’s a double celebration as Katerina also begins her ECVS surgery residency training here at Veterinary Specialists Ireland! 🙌
Becoming an EBVS Specialist is a major commitment, requiring 4–5 years of intensive, hands-on training under the supervision of board-certified Specialists, combined with scientific research, lectures, seminars, and a rigorous final examination.
Only those who complete every element of this demanding programme can earn the title Specialist—a guarantee of advanced expertise and exceptional care
We’re proud to offer Ireland’s only private practice small animal residency training programme—and even prouder to welcome Katerina to the team! 🇮🇪🇬🇷

Many vets and vet nurses know from an incredibly young age that helping animals will be their passion and calling 🐾
Veterinary is a career that tests your heart as much as your head — every day demands your best, full of challenges, joy, and heartache
We love what we do and we do it for them - we simply could not do it otherwise ❤️
Here’s to inspiring the next generation of animal heroes! 🙌

🌟Cian has won Student Veterinary Nurse of the Year 🥳 🌟
A massive congratulations to Cian Duffy on this prestigious and very well deserved award, announced at the IVNA Congress this past weekend 👏👏👏
Cian hails from Summerhill and began his career as a patient care assistant at Veterinary Specialists Ireland 🏥
Cian started the veterinary nursing programme in Cork last year and has become an invaluable team member in both Meath and Cork hospitals, so much so that head nurses and mentors Olivia and Mairead occasionally throw down over his schedule 😂
We are so proud of Cian's achievement and outstanding career progression - the future is incredibly bright indeed 🙌
