Olga completed her veterinary degree in Barcelona, followed by a rotating and diagnostic imaging internship. After a 4-year diagnostic imaging residency at University College Dublin she has attained EBVS European board-certification in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging. Olga has a broad interest, focused specifically on cross-sectional imaging.

Dr. Poppy Bristow

Poppy graduated from the RVC and then completed an ECVS residency in 2014 before moving to the University of Pennsylvania as a Lecturer in Surgery. She became an ECVS diploma holder in 2015, and moved back to the UK in 2016. She worked in a private referral hospital alongside helping to set up the RVC’s heart surgery programme. She undertook a further 2 year fellowship whilst there and then spent three years at DWR, Cambridge, UK setting up a new heart surgery programme and as Head Of Cardiac and Soft Tissue Surgery. Poppy joined the Veterinary Specialists Ireland surgery team in September 2024.

Laura Cuddy graduated from University College Dublin in 2008 with a first class honours degree in Veterinary Medicine. She completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery, followed by a Masters of Science and residency in small animal surgery at the University of Florida (UF).
In 2013, Laura joined University College Dublin as Assistant Professor in Small Animal Surgery. She was welcomed as a Diplomate of the American and European Colleges of Veterinary Surgeons in 2014, and as a Diplomate of the American and European Colleges of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2015 and 2018, respectively.
Laura is actively involved in teaching and regularly delivers lectures and practical workshops nationally and internationally. Her research interests include orthopaedic biomechanics, specifically relating to medial coronoid disease in dogs, as well as teaching and proficiency assessment in minimally-invasive procedures.
Laura maintains a strong interest in all aspects of orthopaedic, soft tissue, neurologic and oncologic surgery, however, her main clinical interests reflect her advanced training at UF in minimally-invasive techniques, traumatology and rehabilitation of the postoperative patient.

Dr. Erin Daniels

American Specialist in Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care
Dr. Daniels attended Louisiana State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal, Dairy, and Poultry Sciences followed by a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2010. Following her graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Daniels completed a yearlong internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Affiliated Animal Care followed by a three-year residency in small animal emergency and critical care at Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital.
Dr. Daniels is a Board-certified Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. Following completion of her residency, Dr. Daniels became a staff criticalist at MedVet Mandeville. In addition to leading the critical care team in Mandeville, she also served as the coordinator for MedVet Louisiana’s internship and residency programs. Dr. Daniels relocated to Ireland to launch the advanced critical care service at Veterinary Specialists Ireland in January 2025.
Dr. Erin Daniels is experienced in all aspects of small animal emergency and critical care and has specific areas of interest in sepsis, head trauma, coagulopathies, mechanical ventilation, antimicrobial resistance, and infectious disease. Her work “Hypercalcemia: Pathophysiology, Clinical Sins, and Emergent Treatment” has been published in the Journal of the American Animal Hospital Association. When not treating patients, Dr. Daniels enjoys spending time with her family, SCUBA diving, and traveling.

Dr. Sacha Devereux

Sacha hails from Co. Louth and after graduating from UCD, she completed her rotating internship at Cornell University and her surgery residency at Massey University. Sacha joined our team in January 2024 and is a very well rounded surgeon with a specific interest in soft tissue and minimally invasive surgery.

Dr. James Dunne

After qualified from UCD in 1998. After six years in small animal practice in England, James joined Ark Vets in Galway in 2004. He gained the RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Surgery by examination in 2005 and became a partner in 2009. James joined Veterinary Specialist Ireland in July 2024 as a referral clinician in surgery, whilst undergoing an ECVS residency training programme in small animal surgery.

Dr. Shane Guerin

European EBVS® Specialist in Small Animal Surgery
Shane qualified from UCD in 1986 and spent six years in private practice before heading to New Zealand in 1993 to complete a Small Animal Surgery Residency. During this period, he became a Member of the Australian College of Veterinary Surgeons by examination, and gained a Diploma in Veterinary Clinical Science from Massey university also by examination.
He then returned to UCD in 1997 as a clinical lecturer. Shane obtained a Certificate in Small Animal Orthopaedics and also became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons. He joined Gilabbey Veterinary Hospital where he worked hard to develop a primary/referral service with a strong emphasis on teaching staff and visiting veterinary students. Shane joined our Veterinary Specialists Ireland team in 2023, relocating to Veterinary Specialists Cork on opening in May 2024. While he enjoys all aspects of surgery, he maintains a strong interest in small animal orthopaedics and neurosurgery.

Dr. Barbara Kirby

Barbara is a Diplomate of the American and European Colleges of Veterinary Surgeons. After an illustrious career in academia culminating in her Professorship at University College Dublin, Barbara joined the Veterinary Specialists Ireland family in April 2021.
It is an understatement to say Barbara has been instrumental in the training of many surgical interns and residents over her tenure in academia. We are delighted to have a surgeon with Barbara’s knowledge, expertise and dedication within our team. Barbara is an Irish Wolfhound aficionado, and Charlie can often be found roaming around the grounds of Veterinary Specialists Ireland. Barbara is the current President of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Dr. Lorena Lloret

Specialist in Integrative Medicine
Dr. Lloret graduated as DVM from Murcia University, Spain, in 2002. She is certified in Veterinary Acupuncture, Veterinary Food Therapy, and Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine. She has been a full-time TCVM practitioner for small animals and horses since 2006, offering complementary treatment in conjunction with Western medicine. She is the founder of the Chi Institute of Europe (2008).
She is on the Board of Directors of the World Association of TCVM representing Spain, and Co-Chair at the Curricular and Educational Committee of this Association. She is founder and president of AEMVTC (Spanish Association of TCVM).
Dr. Lorena was the chief of the TCVM Service of the veterinary teaching hospital of the University Alfonso X in Madrid from 2014-2021. We are delighted to welcome Dr. Lorena to launch the integrative medicine service at Veterinary Specialists Ireland in January 2022.

Lisa McAuliffe qualified with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Liverpool in 2003. Lisa was awarded the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Ophthalmology in 2009 and was awarded her Masters in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia from Edinburgh University in 2019. Lisa has since been working exclusively in small animal hospitals in Ireland – you may have seen her on RTÉ’s The Pet Surgeons. She regularly lectures to both vets and nurses.
Lisa works with Veterinary Specialists Ireland as a visiting consultant ophthalmologist.

Brónach graduated from UCD. She completed a rotating internship at Veterinary Specialists Ireland, followed by a surgery internship at Northern Ireland Veterinary Specialists. Brónach started her ECVS residency at Veterinary Specialists Ireland in June 2022. She has a keen interest in orthopaedic traumatology, minimally invasive surgery and joint replacement.

Turlough graduated with a first degree honours in Veterinary Medicine from University College Dublin in 2008. He completed a surgical internship at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, followed by a residency in large animal surgery at the Peterson & Smith Equine Hospital, Ocala, Florida.
In 2013, Turlough joined Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital as staff surgeon. He has been an active Diplomate in the American and European Colleges of Veterinary Surgeons since 2013. Turlough is actively involved in teaching and regularly delivers lectures and practical workshops nationally.
Turlough maintains a strong interest in all aspects of surgery and practice management. Turlough joined the Veterinary Specialists Ireland team full-time from February 2020 as practice manager.

A Wicklow native, Tim graduated from the University of Edinburgh and spent time in general practice before completing a residency at Fitzpatrick Referrals. Tim worked in specialty private practice for several years prior to relocating home to Ireland to become Chief of Surgery in Summerhill. Tim is a renowned surgeon with a special interest in Orthopaedics and Neurosurgery.

Jennyfer graduated from the University CEU Cardenal Herrera, Spain, in 2020. After her graduation, Jennyfer completed a small animal rotating internship in a private practice in the South of France (CHV Saint Martin), followed by a surgical internship in Paris (CHV des Cordeliers). Jennyfer then moved to Ireland and to Veterinary Specialists Ireland to perform a second surgical internship. She started an ECVS Residency in small animal surgery in July 2023 and has a strong interest for minimally-invasive surgery.

Cecilia graduated from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), Spain in 2000 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine, and subsequently a doctoral degree in Animal Nutrition in 2005. She was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California Davis for two years, with a focus on feline obesity. She subsequently completed her residency in small animal nutrition at UC Davis. She was welcomed as a Diplomate of the American and European Colleges of Veterinary and Comparative Nutrition in 2010.She became adjunct Professor of Small Animal Nutrition at UAB where she was also chief of service of the nutrition support service. She currently works as a consultant clinical nutritionist at Expert Pet Nutrition. Cecilia works with Veterinary Specialists Ireland as a visiting consultant nutritionist.

She initially worked as a Nurse Intern and then a Junior Rotating Nurse at the University Veterinary Hospital in UCD, followed by a stint in the Internal Medicine Departments. Olivia joined us in October 2019 and was promoted to Head Nurse in 2022.
Olivia is passionate about continuing education. She completed her certificate in Emergency and Critical Care in March 2019, followed by a Certificate in Feline Nursing in 2023 and a certificate in transfusion medicine in 2024.

Zoe worked for several years in general practice and then became lead veterinary nurse in the Pet Emergency Hospital from 2018-2021. She is a part-time lecturer in the veterinary nursing programme in Dundalk IT. We were delighted to have Zoe join our team in April 2021.
Zoe has since become an integral part of our referring vet co-ordinating team.
