Our independently owned, state-of-the-art veterinary hospital continues to expand, and we’re excited to add two brand new positions within our Specialist Referral Nursing Team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, supportive, and collaborative team of Veterinary Professionals who prioritise excellence in all aspects of Veterinary Nursing.

What We’re Looking For:
  • Experienced or new graduate Veterinary Nurses with a genuine passion for Specialty practice, dedication to gold-standard nursing care, and enthusiasm for professional growth.
The role:

This is a diverse role rotating through the various Specialty disciplines within the hospital. This role provides the opportunity to explore different speciality disciplines working alongside and gaining direct mentorship from Senior and Primary Discipline Nurses.

You will work alongside Ireland’s only small animal ACVECC Specialist (Emergency and Critical Care), along with Specialists in Internal Medicine, Surgery (Soft tissue and Orthopaedic), Neurology, Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, Nutrition, Integrative Medicine, Diagnostic Imaging, Cardiology, Opthalmology and Exotics.

This role offers career progression within advanced speciality nursing and a possible career pathway to  Primary Discipline Nurse. Our Primary Discipline Nurses work within specific disciplines and hold additional qualifications in their specialty.

Nursing responsibilities vary depending on the discipline assigned to, however, daily tasks generally include:

  • Anaesthesia across all disciplines
  • Assisting surgical procedures as a circulating nurse
  • Radiology and diagnostic imaging
  • Assisting in therapeutic and diagnostic procedures
  • Admit and discharge appointments
  • Processing and sterilisation of instrumentation
  • Phlebotomy and laboratory tasks
  • Inpatient care
  • Other general veterinary nursing tasks

The veterinary team is ably assisted by auxiliary staff consisting of a dedicated reception team and patient care assistants.

Schedule & Work Details:
  • Full-time, permanent role
  • Location: In-person, Meath
  • Shifts are 8.5 hours long, including 30 minutes unpaid break
  • Shifts begin and end throughout the day: Our first shift is from 8 am and the last shift ends at 9 pm
  • Shared weekend rota averaging 1 in 8 weekends
  • No overnight or OOH – separate dedicated overnight staff
  • Annual leave is entitlement is statutory 20 days per annum, excluding bank holidays
  • Overtime is reimbursed as time-off-in-lieu
Requirements:
  • Veterinary Nursing Degree recognised by the Veterinary Council of Ireland (VCI) – Essential
  • Current VCI registration – Essential
  • Additional qualifications or interest in completing additional qualifications – Preferable 

This position is open to both new graduate Veterinary Nurses and experienced Veterinary Nurses.
